EMPORIA, Kan. – The Rogers State Softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader on Tuesday at Emporia State, falling 1-0 and 4-1.
Game one was a pitching battle as the Hillcats fell on just one run that came in the bottom of the seventh, as Emporia walked off with a solo homerun.
Andrea Morales had allowed just three hits prior to the home run with no walks and four strikeouts.
The Hillcats had just two hits and two walks in the game. Both hits came from
Allie McFetridge.
Jaylan Gibson and
Abigail Taylor drew the two walks.
In game two, the Hillcats again struggled again to generate offense with just four hits and a pair of walks.
However, it was the Hillcat defense that put the hosts ahead as three errors allowed runs to come across for Emporia State in the second and in the third.
McFetridge drove in the only run as she capped a four-hit day with two more hits in game two and a RBI single in the fourth to score
Katelyn Gamble.
Gibson and
Mikayla Waggnor had the only other hits. Gibson and Gamble had the walks.
Tailee Reding was dealt the loss, allowing four runs, two earned on six hits and a walk.
Rogers State will now set its sights on Heartland Conference play with an important three-game series set on the road in Texas at Lubbock Christian.
