HAYS, Kan. – Rogers State Men's Soccer dropped its second-straight game on Saturday, falling to Fort Hays State 2-0 in Great American Conference play at FHSU Soccer Stadium.
The Hillcats battled with the hosts in a very even game that saw Rogers State lead the possession with 51 percent. The Hillcats were outshot 13-9 but Rogers State had six corner kicks in the game to just two for the Tigers.
Rogers State would fall behind in the 33
rd minute as Joey McCain fed a pass to Santiago Agudelo, who beat
Austin Wormell for the opening goal of the contest.
The Hillcats would be unable to find an equalizer before half, but the hosts would concede a penalty just 65 seconds into the second half.
However, Rogers State was unable to tie the game as
Jordan Watson's penalty kick into the lower left corner was pushed wide by Cullen Fish.
Fort Hays would double their advantage in the 65
th minute. Agudelo set up Rogelio Lopez for the second goal, sealing the victory for the hosts.
Watson,
Michael Turner and Jordan Simpson all had a pair of shots, but the Hillcats were held scoreless for the second-straight game after averaging over two goals per contest through the opening two weeks of the season.
Fisch finished with four saves for the hosts, while Wormell had one save.
Rogers State will look to rebound on Thursday, returning to Soldier Field for a Great American Conference matchup against Oklahoma Baptist. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Claremore.
