Morales Fans 13 Batters To Lead Hillcats Over Colorado Christian

EDMOND, Okla. Andrea Morales scattered two hits to lead the Hillcats to a 3-0 victory over Colorado Christian on Saturday as the Hillcats remained perfect at the Edmond Regional Festival.

Morales allowed just two hits and had 13 strikeouts as she tossed her third complete-game shutout of the season.

How It Happened: After two strikeouts by Morales in the top of the first, Rogers State would plate two runs in the bottom half. Following a pair of outs to lead off the Hillcat half, Rogers State worked five consecutive walks, including three full-count walks, to score a pair of runs and take the lead.

That would be all the run support needed by Morales, who stifled the Cougars bats in the game.

The Hillcats would go on to add a third run in the sixth as Jaylan Gibson scored on a fielder's choice after reaching on a hit-by-pitch and moving to third on a throwing error.

Players of Note: Morales tossed all seven innings, recording a season high with 13 strikeouts. She allowed just two base runners in the game as she improved to 8-0.

Tailee Reding and Hayley Womack each walked in a run in the bottom of the first inning. Reding, Makayla Bowman and Jaylan Gibson recorded the Hillcats three hits in the game.

Key Statistic: The Hillcats worked seven walks in the game, above their NCAA-leading average.

Up Next: The Hillcats will be back in action in Sunday with the final two games of the Edmond Regional Festival II. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Broncho Field.
