CLAREMORE, Okla. - The No. 17 Rogers State Softball team defeated Fort Hays State in both games of a MIAA doubleheader on Thursday at the Diamond Sports Complex.

How it Happened (Game One): Through the first three innings of the game,
Andrea Morales struck out eight batters in the row, with the last two of the eight batters being struck out on six straight pitches.

In the third inning, the Hillcats put their first run across the plate.
Sabrina Anguiano, hit a double to right field to score
Jaylan Gibson from third base to make the score 1-0.

The Hillcats added another run in the fourth inning. Tailee Redding reached first base after a throwing error from the Tigers third basemen with two outs.

Abigail Taylor stepped up to the plate next to hit a double to right center to score Redding to make the score 2-0.

Two runs proved to be all the Hillcats needed to win the game as Morales continue to be dominant as she only allowed two hits and pitched a complete game shutout.

How it Happened (Game Two): The Hillcats started the game off scoring their only two runs of the game in the first inning. Anguiano started off the inning by reaching base on a single to center field.

After the next two Hillcat batters recorded outs,
Makayla Bowman stepped up to the plate to hit a double to left center. The Tigers' left fielder then had a throwing error to the shortstop and this allowed both Anguiano and Bowman to scored.

M'kayla Hillman only needed two runs as well, as she pitched a complete game shutout to give the Hillcats the win.

Key Players: Morales struck out 13 batters in the first game of the doubleheader which is a season high. Morales also recorded her fifth complete game shutout of the season. She now as a record of 15-2 for the season.

Hillman recorded her third complete game shutout of the season. The freshman is now 6-6 for the year.

Anguiano was 4-for-6 from the plate for the doubleheader including two doubles in the first game. Anguiano accounted for two runs and one RBI in the games.

Taylor went 3-for-6 from the plate for the doubleheader with a double. Taylor also recorded one RBI.
