BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Rogers State men's golf took home a win in The Tulsa Cup on Tuesday. This marks the first time since the 2010-2011 season the Hillcats have won back-to-back tournaments.
"I'm just so proud of this team as a whole," said head coach Steve Brown. "To win a college tournament is hard, but to win back-to-back is pretty rare. When these guys play with confidence, they're pretty fun to watch. I also have to give a huge shout out to our B team as well. They had a great result, and beat some quality teams. William Barnak played especially well, finishing in the top 15."
After three rounds at the Par 72, 6,909-yard River Course at The Club at Indian Springs, RSU finished in first place with a card of 847 (-17), three strokes ahead of second place. The second Hillcat team finished tied for ninth with a card of 879 (+15).
Luke Palmowski led RSU in second place after shooting 207 (-9). He shot back-to-back rounds of 68 in the second and third rounds with 12 total birdies and an eagle in the tournament.
Aidan Gavey was next in ninth with a card of 211 (-5). Daniel Robles was right behind in a tie for 10th with a 212 (-4). Ty Nicar finished in a group of seven tied at 28th with a 218 (+2). Gonzalo Chaves rounded out the group in a six-way tie for 66th after shooting 228 (+12).
William Barnak led the second group in a three-way tie for 12th with a card of 213 (-3). Elliot-Han Monteremal was next in the group of seven tied at 28th with a 218 (+2). Bradley Wright finished in a four-way tie for 52nd with a 223 (+7). Carson Stookey finished in a four-way tie for 78th with a 231 (+15). Tyler Cornwell round out the squad in a tie for 87th after shooting 234 (+18).
This tournament closed out the Fall season for the men's golf team.
