TAHLEQUHA, Okla. – Rogers State men's soccer (11-4-2, 7-3-1 GAC/MIAA) rolled to a 4-2 result against Northeastern State (8-8, 6-4 GAC/MIAA) on Saturday in the regular season finale on Saturday.
Four Hillcats scored in the victory. Ruben Carrasco, Jaxon Pitt, D'Waylan McIntosh and Grant King all connected on goals.
The opening half was fairly even as RSU only out shot the Riverhawks 9-7. Unfortunately, the Hillcats fell behind early as they scored an own goal in the 21st minute to put NSU up 1-0. However, in the 37th minute Ruben Carrasco sank the equalizer off a pass from D'Waylan McIntosh. Things stood all square at 1-1 headed into the intermission.
In the final 45 minutes the Hillcats cranked up the offensive pressure even though they were out shot 10-6. Jaxson Pitt gave RSU the lead at 2-1 in the 48th minute off a pass from Carrasco. McIntosh added to the advantage in the 60th minute. Six minutes later though, the Riverhawks cut the lead to 3-2 as they found pay dirt in the 66th minute. Grant King would put the match out of reach with eight minutes left in the match at the 82nd minute, giving RSU the 4-2 victory.
The Hillcats will return home to Soldier Field on Saturday, Nov. 6 for the regular season finale against Harding on Senior Day. Kickoff slated for 1 p.m.
