CLAREMORE, Okla. – No. 8 Rogers State men's soccer continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 1-1 draw against Harding on Saturday at Soldier Field.
Highlights
- The first half was scoreless between the Bison and Hillcats, with both teams having six shots. The Hillcats had the better looks, forcing four saves in the opening 45 minutes, compared to just one shot on goal for Harding.
- The Hillcats had the first big chance of the second half, as Jordan Watson made a long run into the box and drew a foul to earn, the Hillcats a penalty kick. Watson then tucked the spot kick into the corner in the 66th minute to give the Hillcats the lead.
- Rogers State controlled a majority of the second half, but Harding won a corner kick in the final minute of regulation. Georgios Petousis connected with a header off of Peter Hmung's corner and steered the ball past Dean to tie the game with just 25 seconds left.
- Rogers State would win a corner in the final 10 seconds, but was unable to get a shot on goal.
- In the first overtime, Zach Larkin had the best chance for the Hillcats, but was denied by a diving Jared Nitz, who kept the shot out of the bottom corner.
- Harding would have the best chance in the second overtime, getting behind the defense on a ball over the top, but Elliott Bracy sailed his shot high and wide to the left.

- Watson's penalty kick goal was the first attempt from the spot this season for RSU.
- Rogers State's unbeaten run extends to seven games (5-0-2), dating back to last season.
- With the draw, Rogers State secures a top-two seed in the GAC Tournament, which also secures a home tournament game in the semifinal round. The semifinal round will be played the weekend of April 10.
- The Hillcats also control their own destiny for the top overall seed. A win or draw against Fort Hays will see the Hillcats earn the No. 1 seed. A Fort Hays win will see the Tigers earn the No. 1 seed and Rogers State finish as the No. 2 seed.
