CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State men's soccer punched its ticket into the Great American Conference Tournament Championship game with a 1-0 victory over Southern Nazarene in the semifinal round held at Soldier Field Saturday evening.
Highlights
- The first half was scoreless between the Crimson Storm and Hillcats, with Rogers State having the better looks, outshooting SNU 4-2 with the only shot on target going to the Hillcats.
- Just over three minutes into the second half, Angel Lopez forced a save out of Dillon Dean in goal, as the score remained 0-0.
- In the 65th minute, Rogers State would take the lead as Jordan Watson played a dangerous ball forward to Grant King. King initially moved toward a shot attempt, but the Southern Nazarene defense forced the ball away from King with a slide tackle.
- However, the ball went to the feet of Jaxon Pitt, who fired a shot that was blocked. King then poked home the rebound with a left footed strike.
- Southern Nazarene would have the final five shots of the game looking for the equalizer, but the visitors tested Dean just one more time, as he stopped a shot from Nathaniel Mederos.
