CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State baseball dropped games two and three of the three-game series with MIAA opponent Pittsburg State University at the Diamond Sports Complex on Saturday.
GAME ONE
Rogers State 3, Pitt State 4

How It Happened
- The Hillcats were held scoreless until the third inning when Ethan Rivera scored the game's first run off of a wild pitch by the Gorillas.
- Later in the third inning, a two-RBI single up the middle by Brandon Bradshaw sent Prescott Horn and Christian Merriwether in for the Hillcats second and third runs of game one.
- Pitt State would score its first run off of a wild pitch in the fifth inning to cut the lead to two.
- Their second run came off of an RBI single in the seventh inning.
- The Gorillas would tie the game in the top of the eighth inning with an RBI single to center and take the lead in the top of the ninth off of a SAC fly ball.
- The Hillcats had one last shot in the bottom of the ninth inning with bases loaded and two outs. However, they would be defeated after Bradshaw popped out to the first baseman to end the game.
Game Notes
- Merriwether went 3-for-4 from the plate in game one with a run and a walk.
- Horn went 1-for-3 with two walks and a run.
- Bradshaw had a pair of RBIs on the day.
- Edwards picked up his second loss of the season. He had two strikeouts and a run allowed in 1.2 innings of work.
- Brett Karalius had four strikeouts on the day in 6.2 innings, allowing two runs.

How It Happened
- The Hillcats failed to capitalize in the first inning with Harvey on first and Horn on third, as the Gorillas retired the inning after Jonothan Soto flew out to the centerfield.
- The Gorillas would strike in the second inning for the game's first run, after hitting a home run to left center.
- Pitt State would score the final run after a sacrifice fly allowed the runner to score from third base in the fourth inning.
- In the bottom of the fifth, the Hillcats failed to score a run with the bases loaded after Jerry Davis struck out swinging with two outs.
- Rogers State would be unable to score for the remainder of the game and only managed one hit.
Game Notes
- Ryan Reed went 3-for-4 from the plate in game two.
- Horn and Soto were each walked at the plate once in the game.
- Murphy picked up his third loss of the season. He had five strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
- The Hillcats stranded 10 baserunners in the game.
