CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State men's soccer (4-3-0, 0-2 GAC/MIAA) fell in a 1-0 decision to Northeastern State (5-4-0, 3-0 GAC/MIAA) on Thursday.
The Hillcat defense was stout only allowing the Rivercats seven shots all match, with only two on goal. Freshman Declan Viljoen continued to prove his skill in goal with a save while only allowing the one goal.
The first half was a defensive stalemate with neither team taking many shots. NSU outshot RSU 5-3 in the period. Only the Riverhawks were able to get a shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes.
In the second half, the offense picked up with the Hillcats getting off 10 shots, with three on goal. However, it was once again NSU that got the shot that mattered as they connected on what would become the game winning goal in the 62nd minute for the 1-0 victory.
RSU will be back in action on Monday, Oct. 4 as they remain home and play host to Newman. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m.
