LIBERTY, Mo. – Rogers State women's soccer (2-0) took down William Jewell (0-2) on the road on Sunday.

Freshmen Brooke Amos and Vanessa Gonzalez found the back of the net on the day for the Hillcats. Amos had one shot while Gonzalez shot five times with an assist during the match. Freshman goalie Savannah Harvey was brilliant between the post as she turned in a clean sheet with four saves.

The Hillcats quickly went to work attacking the Cardinals in the first half as they outshot William Jewell 10-6. Amos put RSU on the board early as she scored on a pass from Gonzalez from 25 yards out in the sixth minute. Gonzalez then got in on the goal scoring action as she found pay dirt from five yards out on a pass from Desiree Morgas in the 18th minute. The Hillcats took the 2-0 lead into the intermission.

In the second half, the Hillcats held off the Cardinals as Harvey saved four shots. Both teams stayed on the attack as William Jewell outshot RSU 10-9. However, the Hillcats were able to hold their first half lead to take the 2-0 victory.

RSU will be back in action as they return home on Thursday, Sept. 9 for a match up with Southwestern Oklahoma State. Kick off is set for 4 p.m.
