CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer (5-6-6, 2-4-4 MIAA) took a 2-1 upset win from Central Oklahoma (11-3-3, 6-3-1 MIAA) on Senior Night on Friday.
Â
Two Hillcats found their way onto the scoresheet in the win.
Iris Seamster scored her second goal of the season while
Amaris Jasso scoring her first of the season.
Cambree Towle was excellent in goal for RSU as she earned the win with six saves on 10 shots faced.
Â
The first half was evenly fought with both sides finding success on offense. The Bronchos narrowly outshot RSU 5-3 in the period with three shots on goal compared to two. UCO broke the scoring open in the 13th minute as they fired a shot in to take an early 1-0 lead. However, in the 17th minute,
Iris Seamster came up with the equalizer off a free kick from
Maggie Brown to level things 1-1.
Â
The final 45 minutes played out much like the opening period. Once again, the Bronchos outshot the Hillcats 5-2 with four shots on target compared to just one. But that one shot on target was all it took as
Sarah Ovalle passed to
Amaris Jasso, who was able to get around the keeper and take an unguarded shot for the game winner in the 56th minute.
Â
The Hillcats will close out the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 23 as they travel to Tahlequah, Okla. to face off against Northeastern State for a spot in the MIAA Tournament.
