CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State baseball (6-8) took care of business in a 9-2 mid-week, non-conference win over Northwestern Oklahoma State (6-8) on Tuesday.
The Rangers got on the board first in the opening frame to take an early 2-0 lead. Both runs came in on a two-run blast over the right center field wall.
The Hillcats trimmed the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the second. Connor Womack brought in A.J. Folds  with a sacrifice fly to left. RSU would later tie things up at 2-2 in the fifth as Womack hit another sacrifice fly this time to center to plate Joel Escalante.
The Hillcat offense took the lead to stay 5-2 with three runs in the sixth inning. Jesse Holguin crossed home on a RBI double down the left field line from Jorge Martinez. Marco Barrera drove in Martinez and Womack with a two RBI double to center.
RSU exploded for four more runs in the seventh to push out to a 9-2 lead. Folds scored Holguin and Jonathan Soto with a two RBI double to left center. Martinez later scored on a balk with Folds scoring on a RBI ground out by Escalante.
Rece Parker (1-1) earned the win with 4.0 innings and only allowing one hit with a strikeout. Jerry Davis and Octavio Sanchez were also excellent out of the bullpen only giving up two hits between the two of them in the final 3.0 innings. NWOSU's Kyler Harris (0-1) took the loss.
The Hillcats will be back in action on Friday, March 4 as they travel to Edmond, Okla. for a three-game MIAA series against Central Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
