CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State (8-11, 3-4 MIAA) rolled to an 11-0 win in the series opener against Fort Hays State (2-17, 1-6 MIAA) on Saturday.

The Hillcats wasted no time as they got on the board with an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jonathan Soto tripled down the right field line to drive in Gavin Mestas for the game's first run. Jesse Holguin then plated Soto with a sacrifice fly to right.

RSU tacked on three runs in the second inning to push out to 5-0. Marco Barrera brought in Prescott Horn with a RBI double down the left field line. Barrera crossed home on a RBI single by Mestas, and later scored himself as Soto stole second.

The Hillcats scored two more runs in the fourth inning to go up 7-0. Mestas scored on a RBI single from Soto. Holguin drove in Soto with a RBI double to left.

RSU put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 11-0 victory. Barrera stole third and came home on a fielding error by the third baseman. Mestas came in on a RBI double down the right field line by Holguin. Skyler Nelson drove in Soto with a RBI single to left. Holguin scored on a throwing error by the shortstop.

Jordan Ewig (3-2) earned the complete game shutout win with one of the most dominant performances on the mound in school history. His 15 strikeouts in 7.0 innings is the most in a single game in the Division II era, and the second most in program history. Ewig also worked a no-hitter through 6.1 innings and only allowed one hit in the outing.
