CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State men's soccer (2-1-2) battled to a 0-0 draw with Oklahoma Christian (4-0-1) on Wednesday.

Declan Viljoen (2-1-2) was outstanding in goal for Hillcats as he refused to give up goal, saving all eight shots that came on target.

As was the theme throughout the game, the opening 45 minutes were a defensive stalemate with both sides refusing to give in. The Eagles managed to outshoot RSU 9-6 in the period, with six shots on goal compared to just one. In fact, in the span of a minute and a half between the third and fourth minute, OC peppered in five shots on goal with four coming in a 30 second span. The Hillcats had three great opportunities to score that came up empty in the period as D'Waylan McIntosh fired one off the left post in the 20th minute,
Ruben Carrasco had perfect shot that barely curved wide right in the 35th minute, and
Sebastian Hernandez blasted a shot from 20 yards out that the OC keeper saved just before halftime in the 44th minute.

The second half saw the defensive intensity increase as the shots became fewer and further between. RSU outshot the Eagles 7-2 in the remaining 45 minutes, however OC had two shots on goal compared to the Hillcats one again.

RSU will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 10 as they travel to Tyler, Texas for a matchup against UT Tyler. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
