CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State baseball (6-1) rolled to a 10-2 win in the first game of the four-game set against Missouri-St. Louis (2-3) on Friday.

The Tritons started the game strong as they got two runs in the top of the first to take an early 2-0 lead. Both runs came in on a two RBI double.

RSU's offense came alive in the bottom of the third as they responded with five runs to go up 5-2.
Carson Cheatwood led off the inning with a single through the left side of the infield.
Ramon Torres followed that up with his own single to left. A.J. Folds earned a 3-1 walk to load the bases with no outs.
Prescott Horn drove in Cheatwood and Torres with a single to left. With two outs,
Joel Escalante cleared the bases with a double to center, plating Folds and Horn.
Geovanni Blackshaw brought in Escalante with a single up the middle for the final run of the frame.

The Hillcats added three more runs in the fifth inning to push out to an 8-2 advantage. Back-to-back walks of Horn and
Jesse Holguin started the inning. A groundout to the pitcher moved them into scoring position. Blackshaw was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Andrew Howard battled for a nine-pitch walk to bring home Horn. Cheatwood singled to left to plate Holguin. A fielding error by the first baseman allowed Blackshaw to score.

They tacked on another run in the sixth as Horn led off with a double to left and crossed the plate on a Holguin RBI single to right to increase the lead to 9-2.

RSU scored one final run in the seventh to seal the 10-2 victory. Cheatwood led off the frame with a bunt single.
Jake Mitchell got his first collegiate hit with a single to left to put runners at first and second. Cheatwood later scored as he stole third and came home on a throwing error by the catcher.

Andres De Leon (2-0) earned the win and his first quality start of the season working 7.0 innings and only allowing the two runs while scattering six hits with five strikeouts.
Dean Grisham was solid out of the bullpen with 1.2 innings of hitless work striking out three batters. Cody Brooks (0-1) suffered his first loss of the season.

The Hillcats will return to Diamond Sports Complex tomorrow for a doubleheader against the Tritons. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
