TOPEKA, Kan. – Rogers State baseball (24-19, 12-18 MIAA) rallied from down 6-4 to win 12-6 against Washburn (27-19, 19-11 MIAA) in the series finale on Sunday.

The Hillcats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as
Carson Cheatwood worked a full count walk with one out and then stole second to start things off.
Jesse Holguin later drove in Cheatwood with a single to center field.
Â
RSU added three more runs in the second to go up 4-0.
Gavin Mestas led off the frame as he reached on a fielding error by the shortstop.
Jake Mitchell earned a one out, 3-1 walk.
Ramon Torres cleared the bases as he laced a double into right center, scoring both Mestas and Mitchell. Torres then moved to third on an
AJ Folds groundout to second. He would then score on a passed ball.

The Ichabods came alive in the home half of the third as they pushed across four runs to tie the game. A solo homer to left started the scoring with a wild pitch, RBI double and single plating the other three runs.

Washburn took their first lead in the fourth as a sacrifice fly to left center put them up 5-4.

Over the next three innings, both pitching staffs refused to give up a run and only scattered a combined three hits.

The Ichabods extended their lead out to 6-4 in the eighth with another sacrifice fly.

In the top of the ninth, the Hillcats came roaring back as they exploded for eight runs to claim the 12-6 victory. Both Folds and Cheatwood hit singles with
Prescott Horn walking on a 3-1 count to load the bases with one out. Holguin followed suit, bringing in Folds with his own 3-1 walk.
Geovanni Blackshaw drove in both Cheatwood and Horn as he smashed a double down the left field line. After Mestas was intentionally walked,
Jhonmy Martinez scored Holguin with a single to left. Mitchell kept things rolling as he brought in Blackshaw and Mestas with a single to left. Torres capped off the big inning as he plated Martinez with a RBI single. Mitchell also scored on the play thanks to a throwing error by the center fielder.

Nate Wohlgemuth (3-2) earned the win after working the final 5.0 innings out of the bullpen and only allowed one run on three hits with four strikeouts. Chase Torkelson (7-3) took the loss.

The Hillcats will close out the non-conference portion of the schedule on Tuesday, April 25 as they travel to Alva, Okla. for a meeting with Northwestern Oklahoma State. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
