CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State softball had five student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The CSC Academic All-District® team recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second- and third‐team Academic All‐America® honorees will be announced June 6.
Callie Yellin was named NFCA First Team All-Region and First Team All-MIAA after leading the Hillcats with a .367 batting average during the regular season with 40 hits in 109 at-bats as well as 31 RBI and 17 extra base hits, including a team-high eight home runs. The Farmersville, Texas native ranked seventh in the MIAA with a 1.119 OPS and eighth with a .679 slugging percentage.
Abbey Rogers was named All-MIAA Honorable Mention after she logged a .342 average with nine extra base hits, including four home runs, and 31 RBI.
Nicole Price was also named All-MIAA Honorable Mention after she hit. .346 with four extra base hits and 17 RBI as well as 34 runs scored during the regular season.
Chelsea Spain finished her junior season playing in all 59 games with 58 starts and hit .270 with 13 extra base hits, including a triple and three home runs, to go with 24 RBI and 39 runs scored.
Marissa Smith wrapped up the regular season playing 56 games with 26 starts and hitting .268 with 11 extra base hits, including six home runs, with 16 RBI and 23 runs scored.
College Sports Communicators (CSC) was founded in 1957 and is a 3,200-plus member national organization comprised of the sports public relations, media relations and communications/information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. The second oldest management association in all of intercollegiate athletics, CSC became an affiliated partner with NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics) in December of 2008.
