JOPLIN, Mo. – Rogers State men's and women's cross country competed at the annual Southern Stampede on Friday.

In the women's 5k race, the Hillcats finished fifth out of 19 teams with 154 points and posted the third best finish of the MIAA teams in the meet.

Gloria Butts led the way for RSU finishing in second place, the highest finish of any MIAA runner, with a time of 17:45.70, just two second behind first place. Not only is this time a new personal best, but it is also the second fastest 5k time in school history.
Katie Byrd finished in 19th with a time of 18:31.11.
Ashley Riggenbach finished in 41st with a time of 19:00.72.
Brianna DeAngelis-Stinnett finished 42nd with a time of 19:02.38.
Tori Wood finished in 54th with a time of 19:14.76.
Cadence Cordova finished 74th with a time of 19:47.62.
Rayna Kucharyski rounded out the team scoring in 75th with a time of 19:51.23.

In the men's 8k race, the Hillcats finished 11th out of 16 teams with 331 points.

Kyle Woodward led RSU in 63rd with a time of a time of 27:36.52.
Julius Oheim finished close behind in 67th with a time of 27:36.52.
Cade McCall finished in 77th with a time of 27:46.77.
Carlos Vallejo finished in 81st with a time of 28:07.67.
Blake Feron finished in 96th with a time of 28:28.32.
Blaine Phillippi finished in 105th with a time of 28:42.56.
Casey Little rounded out the team scoring in 111th with a time of 28:47.15.

The Hillcats will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 29 as they travel to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by the University of Missouri.
