CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State baseball (19-16, 10-13 MIAA) claimed the series finale in explosive fashion with a 21-13 win over Northeastern State (19-19, 10-13 MIAA) on Sunday.

Records fell in this offensive onslaught as the 21 runs were the most scored in single game by the Hillcats in the Diamond Sports Complex in program history.
Matthew Schure and Gabe Russel also made history by tying the single hits record after both went 5-for-6 at the plate with five RBI apiece.

The fireworks started right out of the gate as the RiverHawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a three-run homer to left center in the first inning.

RSU responded with force in the bottom half with seven runs to claim a 7-3 lead.
Jake Mitchell got things started as he drove in Schure with a RBI groundout to short.
Matthew Delgado brought in
AJ Folds with a single down the right field line. Russell plated Delgado as he beat out an infield single to first. A bases loaded walk of
Ramon Torres allowed
Joel Escalante to score with Russell later coming in on a wild pitch. Schure capped off the frame, driving in
Alex Dehzad and Torres with a single to right center.

NSU got run back in the second to cut the deficit to 7-4 on a RBI single to left.

The Hillcats matched them with another run of their own in the bottom of the second to go back up 8-4 thanks to a single to center from Russell that scored Escalante.

The RiverHawks added three runs in the third to bring the game back to a one-run margin at 8-7. A two-run blast to right brought in the first two runs with a bunt single allowing the third run to score from third.

RSU again put up a big number in the bottom half as they pushed across eight runs to break the game open at 16-7. On a 2-2 count after battling five pitches, Schure launched his first round-tripper of the season off the side of the scoreboard, plating Torres. Delgado later drove in Folds with a single to right center. Escalante scored Mitchell with a sacrifice fly to right. Russell belted a bases clearing double that brought in Delgado.
Ryan Tiger scored from third on a wild pitch. Dehzad got in on the home run action as he blasted his first long ball of the year to the left field corner, scoring Russell.

After the first two scoreless frames of the day, NSU's offense came to life again in the sixth as they scored four more runs to cut the lead down to 16-11. A double to left center, a sacrifice fly to left and a two-run double to right center were responsible for the runs.

The RiverHawks got within three runs at 16-13 as they added two more runs in the top of the seventh off two solo homers to left center.

Once again, the Hillcats had an answer in the bottom half of the frame with two runs of their own to push the lead back out to 18-13. Tiger scored on a Dehzad double to left with Russell coming in on a Schure single to short.

RSU put the game away with three runs in the eighth to seal the 21-13 win. Russell plated Tiger and Escalante with a double to right center. Torres brought in the game's final run with sacrifice fly to right that scored
Carson Cheatwood.

Nate Wohlgemuth (1-4) earned his first win of the season working 3.0 innings in relief, allowing four runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
Landon Riley (4) earned the save after he worked a hitless and scoreless outing in the final 2.1 innings with a strikeout. Kyle Duffey (1-3) took the loss.

The Hillcats will be back in action on Tuesday, April 9 as they close out the MIAA mid-week series against Missouri Southern at home. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
