CLAREMORE, Okla. – No. 4 Rogers State softball (36-6) earned a hard fought doubleheader split against old rival Oklahoma Christian with both games going to extra innings on Tuesday.

GAME 1 – OC 3, RSU 0 (9 Innings)

The first game set the tone for a day that what would see an absolute master class of a two pitchers' duels with neither starter allowing a run through eight innings of play.

In that span,
Sara Llamas-Howell scattered four hits with three Eagles left stranded. OC's Grace Anderson was likewise as dominant only giving up five hits and leaving seven Hillcats stranded.

With international rules kicking in in the ninth inning, both sides started their respective frames with runners at second base. After a fielding error by the second baseman, the Eagles runner at second scored the go ahead run. Two back-to-back RBI singles to right and left field, respectively, brought in two more runs to give OC the 3-0 win.

Anderson (13-7) earned the complete game shutout win. Llamas-Howell (16-4) took the loss.

GAME 2 – RSU 1, OC 0
Â
The second game saw just as much outstanding defensive action as the first, again with eight innings passing before a run crossed the plate.

Jade Sanders was nearly flawless in the circle as she only allowed one hit in the third inning, while stranding five runners in first eight frames. Jill Dickson scattered four hits with eight runners left stranded in that same span.

Callie Yellin starting the ninth inning on second,
Kaylee Lyon moved her over to third with a single through the left side of the infield. On an 0-2 count with one out,
Lana Gass played hero as she hit a ground ball down the third base line to score Yellin with an RBI single and walk the game off with the 1-0 victory.

Sanders (13-2) earned the complete game shutout with five strikeouts. Dickson (12-6) took the loss.

RSU is back in action on Friday, April 12 as they begin a six-game road trip with a top 10 matchup in Edmond, Okla. against rival No. 10 Central Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
