JOPLIN, Mo. – Rogers State women's cross country won the Southern Stampede on Friday, with the men finishing in third.
 
The No. 25 Hillcat women took the team title in the 5k race with 62 points, ahead of fellow MIAA schools No. 17 Pittsburg State, Missouri Southern, Arkansas Fort Smith and Central Oklahoma as well as Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State.
 
Jordan Wallace led RSU in ninth with a time of 18:26.82. Cadence Cordova finished close behind in 10th with a time of 18:29.10. Kaylee Nay finished in 12th with a time of 18:36.16. Rayna Kucharyski finished in 14th with a time of 18:39.85. Ashley Riggenbach finished in 17th with a time of 18:43.33. Sisely Mitchell finished in 20th with a time of 18:52.90. Katie Byrd rounded out the scoring in 21st with a time of 18:59.38.
 
On the men's side, the Hillcats finished the 8k race in third with 104 points, ahead of fellow MIAA schools No. 12 Pittsburg State and Arkansas Fort Smith as well as Northwestern Oklahoma State.
 
Jonathan Mendez led RSU in 17th place with a time of 26:23.16. Nathanael Gibson finished close behind in 18th with a time of 26:24.59. Blake Feron finished in 20th with a time of 26:38.05. Julius Oheim finished in 21st with a time of 26:43.33. Casey Little finished in 28th with a time of 27:14.57. Cade McCall finished in 31st with a time of 27:22.95. Kyle Ginn rounded out the scoring in 36th with a time of 27:30.32.
 
The Hillcats will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 5 as the split the squads at the Griffon Invitational in St. Joseph, Mo. and the Golden Eagle Invitational in Siloam Springs, Ark.
