CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State men's and women's cross country will open the 2024 season at home as they host the annual RSU Distance After Dark meet on Thursday, Sept. 5.
For the third year in a row, the Hillcats will begin the season hosting a cross country meet at Mohawk Sports Complex in Tulsa, Okla. The women's 5k race is set to start at 10 p.m. with the men's 4-mile race beginning at 10:30 p.m. Prior to the college races, the RSU Distance After Dark presented by Tulsa Runner high school meet is set to begin with the first of four races at 7:45 p.m.
After finishing fourth at the MIAA Championships and sixth at the NCAA Regionals last season, the Hillcat women return 11 runners from last year's squad with the addition of 13 newcomers. RSU was picked to finish fifth in the 2024 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll and ranked 10th in the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Central Region Preseason Rankings.
On the men's side, Rogers State returns 14 runners from last year's squad and add 13 newcomers. After finishing in 11th at the MIAA Championships last season, they were picked 11th in the 2024 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.
