CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer will kick off the 2024 season as they go on the road to face off against UT Tyler on Thursday, Sept. 5.
In his second season at the helm in 2023, head coach Chris Jones led the Hillcats to a 7-9-2 record and just missed making the MIAA Tournament by one point. After finishing ninth in the MIAA last year, the league's coaches tabbed RSU to again finish ninth with 58 points in the 2024 preseason poll.
RSU brings back 21 players from last year's squad with 11 newcomers joining the mix, including three Division I transfers. Of the returners, both Alex Tirado-Negrete and Amaris Jasso were All-MIAA selections last season.
The Hillcats will face off against UT Tyler in the 2024 season opener. The Patriots finished last season with a 3-5-9 record and ranked 11th in the Lone Star Conference. Though picked to finish 10th in this season's LSC Preseason Poll, UTT returns Third Team All-LSC selection Sydnee Garner and Brooke Mullins, who lead the team in goals and points last year.
This will be the third all-time meeting between RSU and the Patriots with UT Tyler leading the series 1-0-1. Last season, the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw in Claremore.
The first match of 2024 for both sides, the Hillcats and Patriots will meet at Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex in Tyler, Texas. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
