BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The Rogers State women's golf 'A' team finished the opening day of the Tulsa Cup in first place with a score of 583 (+7), while the 'B' team is in 13th place with a score of 638 (+62) at The Club at Forest Ridge.
"I am very proud of the way the entire team played today," commented head coach
Lexi Johnson. "We played solid all day and really did a good job at staying level headed and staying in it even after a bad hole or shot. Looking to keep the momentum going and taking a lot of positives from our play today going in to the final round tomorrow."
In team standings, Arkansas Tech is in second place with a score of 584 (+9), followed by Central Missouri (+19) and Oklahoma Baptist (+21) after 36 holes of play.
Senior
Brianna Maddux has been outstanding, finishing the day with a total score of 141, three under par (-3). The Owasso, Oklahoma, native began with an even-par round that included four birdies and ended with a strong 69 (-3), featuring two eagles and three birdies. She is currently one stroke behind leader Ellen Spigner of Arkansas Tech.
Sophomore
Milena Andres also delivered a strong performance, concluding the day with a score of 145 (+1) after a solid 70 (-2) in the second round. Junior
Lauren Anderson (+4) is tied for 12th, while freshman
Lara Foigel (+7) finished the day tied for 20
th and freshman
Lou Fourdan (+9) ended round two tied for 30
th.
RSU's second team also performed well on the cloudy Monday, with freshman
Clara Ledun leading the way in a tie for 20th with a score of 151 (+7). Junior
Rylan Ashley is tied for 30th at +9, while sophomore
Brooklyn Worley is tied for 49th at +15 and sophomore
Elle Standlee Daniels is tied for 84th at +31.
The RSU women's golf team will conclude the Tulsa Cup tomorrow morning with the final round starting at 8:30 a.m.
