ALVA, Okla. -Â Rogers State baseball (8-2) dropped a 12-2 game against Northwestern Oklahoma State (8-8) on the road Wednesday.

The Rangers wasted little time getting on the board as they put up three runs in the first inning. The first run scored from third on a 6-4-3 double play. A two-run home run to right brought in the other two runs.

After two scoreless innings, NWOSU added two more runs to go up 5-0 in the fourth. A double down the left field line scored the first run, with a single to third scoring the other run.

The Hillcats managed to push across two runs in the sixth to cut the deficit down to 5-2.
Andrew Ramirez led off the inning with a walk and was joined on base by
Jake Mitchell, who was hit by a pitch.
Jackson Romero loaded the bases with a walk of his own. Ramirez later scored on an error by the pitcher. Mitchell crossed home as a pitch hit

The Rangers tacked on another run in the home half of the frame to push back out to 6-2 thanks to an RBI single through the right side of the infield.

NWOSU sealed the 12-2 win as they exploded for six runs in the seventh. The first run came in on a bases loaded balk. A three RBI double to left scored the next group of runs, with a two RBI double to center walking the game off.

Logan Sandoval (1-0) earned the win.
Ricardo Landeros (0-1) took the loss with a 3.0 inning start, giving up three runs on five hits with two strikeouts.

The Hillcats will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 28 as they travel to Tahlequah, Okla. to open MIAA play against archrival Northeastern State in the first game of a three-game set. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
