EDMOND, Okla. - Rogers State baseball (19-11, 9-9 MIAA) fell to Central Oklahoma (25-8, 15-6 MIAA) in the middle game of a three-game, mid-week MIAA series by a score of 17-4 in seven innings on Tuesday.
The Bronchos got on the board early in the bottom of the first inning when they hit a three-run home run over the left field fence.Â
UCO kept the sticks hot, putting up four more runs in the bottom of the third inning to go up 7-0.Â
The Hillcats responded in the top of the fourth inning when they scored four runs of their own to cut the deficit to 7-4. Blake Nichols hit an RBI single into center field, driving in Jackson Romero. Mitchell Smith blasted a three-run round-tripper to center field, scoring Jake Mitchell and Nichols in the process.Â
UCO answered back by pushing across three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, which gave them a 10-4 lead. The Bronchos kept hammering and added four more runs to their lead in the bottom of the fifth, with three final runs in the sixth inning to set the final score at 17-4.
Brody Berlowitz (1-0) earned the win. Cole Abbott (1-3) took the loss.
RSU will return to action on Friday, April 4 as they travel to Topeka, Kan. to face off against Washburn in a three-game series. First pitch for game one is set for 4 p.m.
