No. 15 Hillcats Claim Season Series over Bronchos on Tuesday

RSU won the contest with a 10-0 (8) run-rule at the RCB Bank Sports Complex

CLAREMORE, Okla. — No. 15 Rogers State baseball (28-4, 16-2 MIAA) secured a commanding 10-0 (8 innings) victory over Central Oklahoma (16-16, 7-11 MIAA) to claim the season series on Tuesday at RCB Bank Sports Complex.

The Hillcats amassed 12 hits and took advantage of seven walks, while pitcher Damon Anderson-Wolf (7-0) pitched a gem to collect his first complete game shutout of the season. The junior righty allowed just four hits and struck out a pair of batters.

The scoring began in the bottom of the second inning when Jake Mitchell singled and later scored on a single by Blake Conrad. Kade Goeke delivered a two-RBI double, bringing home Luis Fuentes and Conrad, followed by an RBI single from Andrew Ramirez, making the score 4-0 after two innings.

In the fourth inning, RSU added to its lead. Conrad, who was hit by a pitch, scored on a single by Goeke, and Sammy Harris brought in another run with a single, extending the lead to 6-0 through four innings.

The seventh inning saw further scoring as Gavin Gamino, pinch-hitting for Zak Nelson, grounded out to drive in a run. Fuentes followed with a two-RBI single, pushing the lead to 9-0.

The Hillcats added their final run in the eighth inning. Harris singled and eventually scored on a walk-off single by Gamino to secure the run-rule.

Goeke led the effort with three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs while scoring twice. Conrad crossed the plate three times, contributed one hit and added an RBI. Gamino made an impact with a hit and drove in two runs. Mitchell and Harris added multi-hit games, while Nathan Gutierrez added a double.

The Hillcats will hit the road for a big MIAA showdown against the No. 7 Central Missouri Mules. First pitch in Warrensburg, Missouri, is slated for Thursday night at 5 p.m.
