Three Homers and Strong Pitching Propels Hillcats to Tuesday Sweep Over Lady Bisons

RSU took the regional clash with a 5-1 victory in game one, followed by a 3-0 shutout in game two

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Rogers State Softball (32-16) secured a doubleheader sweep on rainy Tuesday over Harding (24-22) at RCB Bank Sports Complex. RSU took the regional clash with a 5-1 victory in game one, followed by a 3-0 shutout in game two.

GAME ONE: RSU 5, HU 1
The scoring began in the first inning when Baylee King was hit by a pitch and later stole home on a successful double steal attempt with Jaden Jordan, giving the Hillcats an early lead at 1–0.

After over an hour and a half weather delay, Harding tied the game in the second inning with a groundout RBI, but the Hillcats swiftly responded when Halle Bucktrot (2) hit a two-run homer, bringing in Raelle Gorman and extending the lead to 3–1.

Gorman scored again in the fourth inning on a throwing error after advancing to third, increasing the lead to 4–1. In the fifth inning, Saylor Brown doubled to center field, allowing Raylin Morgan to score, bringing the final score to 5–1.

Senior Harley Culie (17-8) delivered a complete game performance for the Hillcats in her 25th start of the season. The senior pitched 7.0 innings while allowing just two hits and one earned run. Culie demonstrated control and efficiency, throwing 106 pitches, 62 of which were strikes, including three strikeouts and one walk.

Bucktrot led the Cats' offense by hitting a home run on a perfect 3-for-3 outing at the plate, while also driving in two runs. Gorman contributed significantly by scoring two runs and adding a hit, while  Brown added an RBI double.

GAME TWO: RSU 3, HU 0
After four scoreless innings, Gorman drew a walk and later scored on Mariah Belzer's fourth home run of the season to left center, to give the Hillcats a 2-0 lead.

Jordan (11) extended the lead in the sixth inning with a solo home run to right center, pushing the score to 3-0 for the Cats. RSU maintained the lead through the seventh inning, concluding the game with a final score of 3-0.

Freshman Kinsley Hill (12-6) delivered her sixth shuout and eighth complete, pitching all 7.0 innings for the Hillcats without allowing an earned run in her 23rd start of the season.
