Women's Cross Country

Vineyard and Lire Lead the Way for RSU at MSSU Southern Stampede on Saturday

Hillcat women finished eighth, while the men placed 11th

JOPLIN, Mo. — Darcy Vineyard and Tesfaye Lire led the Rogers State cross country teams Saturday morning at the MSSU Southern Stampede at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.
 
The Hillcat women placed eighth among 24 teams in the 5K race with 254 points. Vineyard paced RSU by finishing 36th in 19:00.06. Kiera Blumhof followed in 53rd at 19:27.11, while Tehya Lang placed 60th in 19:33.36.
 
Kendall Howell recorded a personal-best time of 19:38.54 to finish 69th. Ryann Barber rounded out RSU's scoring five, placing 87th in 19:58.93. Chloe Grubbs finished 100th in 20:10.44, and Leyla Saldana posted a personal best of 20:18.15 to place 110th. Stella Jones crossed the line in 20:27.41, followed by Sarah Swofford in 20:36.93 and Brielle Coons in 20:46.81. Kenzie Gilliam finished in 21:12.39, while Britt Hunter completed the race in 21:59.24.
 
On the men's side, Lire led the Hillcats with an 11th-place finish and a personal-best time of 26:29.39 in the 8K race. RSU finished 11th among 28 teams with 364 points.
 
Lewis Cross placed 89th in 26:45.84, followed by Aidan Jimenez in 102nd at 27:02.40 and Karsen Hennigh in 103rd at 27:02.64. Trevor Hacker completed the scoring five by finishing 106th in 27:07.15.
 
Noah Laird placed 120th in 27:17.66, while Colton Storm recorded a personal-best time of 27:24.00 to finish 125th. Tanner Jenks followed in 126th at 27:25.34.
 
Carter Gibson and Luke Worthington finished one spot apart, placing 141st and 142nd in 27:44.80 and 27:44.92, respectively. Josiah Long finished in 27:55.68, and Riley Pauley crossed the line in 28:28.99.
 
RSU will resume competition next Friday at the Augustana Invitational in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Action at Yankton Trail Park starts with the men's race at 10:15 a.m., followed by the women's race at 11 a.m.
