SEARCY, Ark. — Rogers State women's soccer (1-1-1) and Harding played to a 0-0 draw on Friday at Stevens Soccer Complex. The Hillcats were outshot 36-4, while
Eliza Naegle (0-0-1) was credited with nine saves in the shutout.
RSU's first-half story centered on keeping the Lady Bison off the scoreboard under sustained pressure, with Naegle making four saves and the defense adding a team save.
Early, the Lady Bison earned corner kicks in the second and sixth minutes and put consecutive shots on frame in the seventh minute, but Naegle stopped attempts by Maddie Adams and Kloey Fullerton before another Lady Bison shot hit the right woodwork at 8:43. The Hillcats generated their first shot through
Khari Carreno in the 24th minute. The Lady Bison added one more corner kick and two late shots, but RSU reached halftime with the match still scoreless, 0-0.
RSU kept the Lady Bison off the board throughout the second half, getting five saves from Naegle and a team save as the match finished 0-0. The Cats generated chances through
Bella Holland in the 62nd minute,
Cynthia Solis in the 69th and Carreno in the 80th, as they looked for a late breakthrough. The closing minutes again tested RSU, including an HU shot off the woodwork in the 85th minute, but the defense saw out the scoreless half.
Naegle recorded nine saves over 90 minutes and posted a shutout. Carreno led the Hillcats with two shots.
RSU will return to action on Sunday for the home opener against Ouachita Baptist. Kickoff from Soldier Field is slated for 10:30 a.m.
