Biography

About: Jianna (Piela) Cervantes is back on the Hill for her senior season following a 2014 campaign where she was one of the most versatile players in the RSU lineup. The Muskogee, Oklahoma native started 15 of the 17 matches in which she appeared playing more than 1,300 minutes as a junior tallying eight points on two goals and four assists. She also landed a spot on the 2014-15 Heartland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. She took a redshirt in 2013, but started all 18 contests for the Hillcats as a sophomore in 2012 totaling three goals. Cervantes earned a starting spot in all 20 matches during her freshman campaign along the back line for RSU in 2011. She netted one goal landing a spot on the Second-Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference list. She was a two-time, all-district honoree during her prep career at Muskogee High School. Cervantes was named Offensive Player of the Year for the Roughers during both her junior and senior seasons and recorded 22 goals and 15 assists over her four-year career at Muskogee. The daughter of Terry and Sarah Piela, she said she chose RSU because "it is a great environment and I love playing with the girls on the team."
