Scott Parkinson enters his second season as the Rogers State head women's soccer coach after being named the third head coach in program history in May 2016.
In the first season under the guidance of Parkinson, the Hillcats completed the largest turnaround in program history, improving by five wins. Under Parkinson's leadership, the navy and red finished the 2016 season with a 6-9-3 record, including a perfect record (4-0) in nonconference play for the first time in program history. The Hillcats played even with No. 24-ranked and Heartland Conference champion St. Edward's, which went 13-0-1 in the league, in a 1-1 draw, becoming the only league team to tie the Hilltoppers all season. Parkinson totaled one all-league selection in his first season as senior midfielder Amanda Jones earned All-Heartland Conference honors.
Parkinson took over the program after serving two seasons as an assistant coach for the Hillcat men’s team. In his second season as an assistant, the men posted a 10-5-3 record finishing third in the Heartland Conference with a 4-2-2 record in league play. Parkinson helped coach Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Year Dylan Beaird and five All-Heartland Conference selections, while four players on the 2015 team earned NSCAA All-South Central Region accolades.
In Parkinson’s first season as an assistant for the RSU men’s program, the Hillcats went 7-10 and 3-5 in league play, and had two Hillcats named All-Heartland Conference with one NSCAA All-South Central Region honoree. Parkinson coached a total of seven all-conference selections, seven all-region picks and two NSCAA Scholar All-South Central Region honorees in his two years assisting the RSU men’s program.
A native of Liverpool, England, Parkinson is a United States Soccer Federation National "C" Licensed coach. He has spent time coaching across Oklahoma, including as an assistant for the men's team at Oklahoma Wesleyan University and as the Director of Soccer Operations for Oklahoma City FC.
Before his time with the Eagles, he was appointed head coach at Chickasha High School in 2013 after serving as an assistant since 2010. Parkinson also has coached with the Olympic Development Program in Oklahoma and for the Oklahoma Football and Northeastern Oklahoma Futbol clubs.
Parkinson played collegiate soccer at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma where he was the program's first-ever, First-Team NAIA and NSCAA All-American in 2012, following third-team selections in 2011. He was team captain for the Drovers and a two-time Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. USAO made the NAIA National Tournament all four years with Parkinson anchoring the back line, twice reaching the final eight. The Drovers also won three SAC regular season titles and two conference tournament championships during his career. He earned SAC All-Conference honors each of his four seasons being named to the first-team three times.
Following a brilliant soccer career at USAO, Parkinson served as team captain for Oklahoma City FC during its inaugural season in the Premier Development League (PDL) in 2013.
Before moving to the United States, Parkinson was an apprentice engineer for Jaguar and Land Rover cars for four years. He earned electro/mechanical engineering certification from the company's JLR Engineering Center and worked five years as a robot programmer.
Parkinson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from USAO in 2013. He and his wife, Lauren, currently reside in Tulsa.
