Shawn Slater

Assistant Coach Shawn Slater returns for the seventh season of RSU Hillcat soccer. Slater has been an integral part of establishing a winning tradition at RSU since the program’s inception in 2007. He brings a vast amount of experience as a player and coach to the program. An All-State selection at Tulsa Nathan Hale High School, Slater later starred at John Brown University as well as with several professional teams, including the Tulsa Roughnecks and the Dallas Sidekicks.

He worked as an assistant coach at Booker T. Washington High School and Tulsa Memorial High School before landing his first head coaching position at Nathan Hale in 1995. Slater later guided the Bixby and Chickasha boys’ soccer programs and helped Catoosa claim the Class 4A State Championship in 2003-04. Slater most recently served as head boy’s coach at Claremore High School, leading the Zebras to its first ever state title appearance in 2007. He currently serves as a Director and is a staff coach for Blitz United Soccer Club.

Shawn and Erica Parks have a daughter, Paige, and a son, Jaxson.
