Morrie Turner enters his fifth season with the Rogers State women's track and field team and his fourth season with the men's track and field team in 2018. He joined the Hillcats' staff in July 2014 as assistant coach for the first-ever season of women's track and field and works primarily with the sprints and jumps.

Turner is a USA Track and Field Level 1 certified coach and holds several certifications from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). He has the Sprints, Hurdles, and Relays Specialist certification as well as recognition as a Jumps Specialist from the USTFCCCA.

Turner helped the Hillcats earn their first-ever All-American honor during the indoor season in 2018 when Ricky Bell finished eighth in the 60 meters at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships. Bell was named a First Team All-American with the performance in the 60 meters. Bell and Djiron Lilley were All-South Central Region in the 60 meters in the indoor season as well in the 2018 season. In the outdoor season, Turner added three conference championships with wins in the 100 meters by Lilley, long jump by Daisha Reece and women's 4x100 meter relay. The Hillcats total 12 All-GAC selections in sprints and jumps at the Great American Championships in 2018.

Turner guided the sprints to two All-American performances at the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in 2017. Quintin Powell in the 400 meters and the 4x100 relay team of Powell, Ricky Bell, JaQuan Johnson and Djiron Lilley garnered All-America honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The sprints added to its conference championships during the 2017 season with six conference titles, three each for the men's and women's programs. Under the guidance of Turner, Audrianna Morgan repeated as the conference champion in the 100 and 200 meters, and the women's 4x100 meter relay repeated as well. For the men's team under Turner's tutelage, Lilley won the 100 meters and Powell was victorious in the 400 meters. In the men's 4x100 meter relay, the Hillcats took the conference championship.

In his second season with the women’s track and field program, Turner coached the Hillcats to three Great American Conference champions in the sprints. The 4x100 meter relay team picked up the first conference title in program history and sophomore Audrianna Morgan followed with two individual conference championships in the 100 and 200 meters. He also guided a pair of all-conference finishes in the jumps events.

Prior to coming to the Hill, Turner served as a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater Oral Roberts and the jumps and sprints coach at nearby Jenks High School. While at Jenks, Turner's coaching helped the Trojans win their first Oklahoma 6A State Championship in 10 years.

Turner was a standout long jumper for the Golden Eagles following stints at Mississippi State University and Hinds Community College. He earned NCAA All-America Second Team honors during the 2012-13 season, while garnering Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year accolades. Turner also claimed the Southland Conference championship in the long jump landing a spot on the First-Team All-Conference list.

While at Hinds, Turner reached NJCAA All-America status three times and was honored twice as an NJCAA Academic All-America selection.

The Batesville, Mississippi native earned a Bachelor of Science and Engineering degree from ORU in 2014. He has two sons, Morrie Turner, Jr. and Maddox.
