About: Dyson enters the inaugural track and field season as the team's lone senior in 2016 after spending four years with the RSU cross country program. The Owasso, Oklahoma native ran in all 24 meets for the navy and red running his fastest 8k time of his career at the 2014 Heartland Conference Championship in a time of 27:04.38 placing 23rd. Last spring, Dyson completed two half marathons placing second at the Bentonville Half Marathon (1:18:40) and ran his personal best at the OKC Memorial Half (1:16:26) placing sixth. He has earned a spot on the Heartland Conference Academic All-Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll three times. Dyson received the RSU Newcomer of the Year Award as a freshman. He joined the Hillcats after a successful prep career at Owasso High School. As a senior, he was named Most Valuable Runner after posting a 5k time of 16:59 for his personal record. Dyson also was named Tulsa World Athlete of the Week as a senior. He improved his personal best by 20 seconds from his junior season where he was named Most Accountable Runner. The son of Kevin and Kristin Dyson, he said he chose RSU because "the campus is awesome and Coach McCormick is a great guy."
