About: Shurtliff returns to the Hill for her final season after suffering a season-ending injury a year ago and being granted a medical redshirt. In her junior season in 2013, she played in 50 games helping the Hillcats to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round. The Hesperia, California native smacked five doubles on the year and scored 23 runs for the Hillcats. Shurtliff joined RSU from Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa playing for Head Coach Karie Linsenmyer. As a sophomore, she posted a .333 batting average with 56 hits and 32 RBI. Shurtliff totaled 17 doubles, one triple, two home runs, and nine steals to earn the Spark Award. Her freshman season in 2011, she hit .301 with 53 hits, 10 doubles, and 22 RBI. At Hesperia High School she earned the Scorpion Award (team MVP) in 2009, Coaches Award in 2009, Defense Award in 2008, and first-team all-league honors in 2007. The daughter of Melanie Shurtliff, she said she chose RSU "to play ball at a high skill level and to get a good education."
