CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State scored twice in the first half en route to a 4-1 victory over Mid America Christian at Soldier Field on Monday.

Freshman Salim Nelson gave the Hillcats the lead on an assist from Bryce Taylor with 16:13 remaining in the first half. Jaime Perez setup Kirk Madsen for the Cats second goal just before the half.

Brett Jones scored on an assist from Shemord Thompson midway through the second period to put the game out of reach. Dylan Finch tallied the lone goal for the Evangels with 12:51 remaining in the match but Josh Blanchard answered for RSU with 2:13 remaining on a header from Vitor Mantovani.

RSU completed its regular season with a record of 11-3-2. The Hillcats finished in second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference regular season standings after being picked to finish last in the coaches pre-season poll.

RSU will host the first round of the SAC tournament on Friday at Soldier Field. The game time and opponent will be announced later this week.
