SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - Rogers State scored late in the first half and kept John Brown out of the net en route to a 1-0 victory at Alumni Field in Siloam Springs, Ark. on Saturday.
It was the first Sooner Athletic Conference win for the Hillcats who improved to 3-1-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in conference play.
Junior Shemord Thompson scored his first goal of the season in the first half and it proved to be the difference for RSU. Goal keeper Sean Surridge turned in his second shutout performance of the season between the posts with seven saves.
The match turned ugly in the second half as 14 cards were issued and two John Brown players were ejected. The Golden Eagles fell to 1-3-0, 0-1-0 in conference play with the loss.
RSU returns home on Tuesday to face St. Gregory's at Soldier Field. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
