CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State University soccer teams endured soggy conditions and turned in dominating performances over Bacone College to record the first victories in school history at Soldier Field on Wednesday.

The Hillcat women cruised to a 3-0 win over the Lady Warriors and the RSU men followed with an equally impressive 3-1 victory. The matches were the first official competitions for the new soccer programs.

The RSU women wasted little time following a 20-minute weather delay at the start of the match. Senior Robin Sutherland scored the first goal in school history with a shot just inside the right post with 31:59 remaining in the first half. Junior Carrie Ritz added a goal with 13:00 remaining and the Hillcats led 2-0 at the break. Claremore freshman Tiffany Roberts scored the third and final goal of the match at the 24:57 mark in the second half to reach the final margin, 3-0. Freshman goal keeper Bailey Lynn turned in a shutout performance in her first collegiate game.
The RSU women's teams improved to 1-0-0 on the season.
The next home matches for the men's and women's teams are slated for Sept. 11 as the Hillcats host Oklahoma Christian in their first Sooner Athletic Conference competitions.
