Cats Crushed by Crimson Storm, 96-70

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene scorched the nets in the first half and sent Rogers State to its worst conference loss of the season at the Sawyer Center in Bethany Thursday night.
 

The Crimson Storm shot 66-percent in the first half and held a 23-point halftime lead. Brent Kimmel buried seven 3-pointers as SNU cruised to a 96-70 win. Kimmel finished with a game-high 23 points for the Storm.
 

SNU jumped out to a 14-4 lead four minutes into the game and enjoyed a double digit lead the rest of the night. The Hillcats shot just 31-percent in the first half and trailed 49-26 heading into the locker room at the break. Kimmel hit 5-of-8 threes in the first half while big man Milorad Damjanac made good on 4-of-4 shots in the paint.
 

Rogers State responded by shooting 52-percent in the second half but couldn't keep pace with the Crimson Storm. SNU outscored the Cats 47-44 after halftime as four Storm players finished in double figures.

Brandon Durham scored 18 points for SNU after being named the NAIA national player of the week on Wednesday. Harold Edwards came off the bench to score 16 points on 7-of-11. Damjanac finished with 13 points for the Storm who improved to 11-3, 5-1 in conference play.

Eric Young recorded a double-double for the Hillcats with 11 points and 14 rebounds. The Houston native set a new team record with 11 offensive rebounds. Bryson Krueger led RSU with 15 points and hit 3-of-5 treys in the second half. Chris Francis added 10 points in 10 minutes of action in the second half.
 

Rogers State (8-4, 3-3) will play its third road game of the week on Saturday at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip-off and can be heard live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
