Hillcats Roll Past Lubbock Christian, 84-60

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State responded from an emotional loss Thursday night with an 84-60 thrashing of Lubbock Christian on Saturday afternoon at the Claremore Expo.

Sylvester scored a season-high 24 points as the Hillcats built a 10-point lead at half time and refused to let the Chaparrals get close in the second half.

The two teams exchanged the lead four times in the early going and were knotted at 19-19 with nine minutes remaining in the first half. Aldric Reynolds sparked a 9-0 run with two three pointers and a transition layup and the Cats led 42-32 at the break.

LBU cut the lead to seven with a quick surge to start the second half but RSU buckled down on defense to deny any chance of a comeback. The Hillcats claimed a 29-to-10 rebounding advantage in the second half and forced 31 turnovers by the Chaps.

Eric Young finished just one rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Bryson Krueger shot 6-for-9 from the floor to rack up 14 points. Reynolds posted 13 points, five rebounds and three assists. Spicer was 10-of-15 from the floor and his 24 points set a single game scoring record at RSU.

It was an important victory for RSU after a frustrating loss to Wayland Baptist on Thursday. Rogers State (8-3, 3-2) picked up its third conference win and will step out of conference play for the final time on Monday. The Hillcats will face Oklahoma State at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. and the game can be heard live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
