SHAWNEE, Okla. - Rogers State jumped out to an early lead before settling for a 2-2 tie against Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, Okla., Saturday.

Caio Martinelle scored the first and last goal of the match to salvage a draw for the Bison. Martinelle's first strike came in the third minute to put OBU in front 1-0. The Hillcats answered with two goals before the half. Luke Helm evened the score on a pass from Jaime Perez in the eighth minute and Des Fitzgerald put the Cats in front on a penalty kick just before the break.

RSU held off the Bison until the 81st minute when Martinelle knotted the game 2-2 with his second score. The teams battled through two overtime periods before calling it a draw.

The Bison outshot the Hillcats 28-12 and posted 10 shots on goal. Sean Surridge recorded eight saves in goal for RSU.

Rogers State (8-3-2, 2-2-1) remains in fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings after the tie. Oklahoma Baptist remains unbeaten in conference play at 4-0-2. The Hillcats will travel to Chickasha, Okla., Friday to face USAO. The match is slated for 3 p.m.
