Eagles Edge Hillcat Men in OT, 3-2

EDMOND, Okla. - Rogers State suffered its first defeat in nearly a month as Oklahoma Christian scored an overtime victory on a penalty kick Tuesday evening in Edmond, Okla.

Cristian Fernandes converted the penalty kick try just over four minutes into the overtime period to give the Eagles the 3-2 win. The Hillcats had not allowed a goal in six consecutive matches entering Tuesday's contest.

Ryan Frampton ended the scoreless streak when he found the net with a header off a free kick 12 minutes into the match. Trey Boykin added another strike late in the first half and the Eagles held a 2-0 advantage at the break.

The Hillcats responded with a strong second half. Justin Friesen scored a long distance goal to cut the lead in half in the 48th minute. Henrique Sousa tied the score less than five minutes later. RSU had multiple opportunities to put the game away in regulation but couldn't break through. The Cats outshot the Eagles 9-4 in the second half.

Rogers State (7-2-1, 1-1) suffered its first conference loss and fell to sixth place in Sooner Athletic Conference standings. The Hillcats will host fifth-ranked Oklahoma City Saturday evening at Soldier Field. The match is slated for 8 p.m.
