WINFIELD, Kan. - It seems 90 minutes just isn't enough time for the Rogers State men's soccer team these days.
Â
On Monday the Hillcats went to double overtime for fifth time this season and for the third time in the last four games. And for the fifth time they escaped with either a win or a tie.
Â
RSU dropped Southwestern College 1-0 in the second extra period when sophomore Brett Jones found the back of the net in the 104th minute. The Cats closed out the regular season with a road win and a 10-5-3 record. Sean Surridge and Tou Yang teamed up for nine saves to record the shutout in goal.
Â
Rogers State will play as the No. 6 seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament this week. The Hillcats will travel to No. 3 seed Southern Nazarene for a first round match Friday. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in Bethany, Okla.
