EDMOND, Okla. - Rogers State and John Brown battled through 15 lead changes before the Golden Eagles closed the game on an 18-6 run to advance to the second round of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament in Edmond Wednesday.

Ashley Taylor and Micaela Cully combined for 31 points en route to a 62-50 win at the Eagle's Nest on the campus of Oklahoma Christian. The loss brought an end to the inaugural season of Hillcat women's basketball.

The game was neck-and-neck until the final four minutes. Neither team led by more than four points until the Eagles made a late charge. JBU broke loose from a 44-44 tie, the ninth tie of the contest, with a 17-3 run that stretched into the final minute. Fifteen of the Golden Eagles 17 points during the run came at the free throw line. JBU hit 18-of-23 free throws in the second half.

The Hillcats knocked down 24-of-34 attempts at the charity stripe for a respectable 71-percent. However, RSU managed only 12 made field goals on the night, six in each half. Four days removed from their best shooting performance of the season, the Hillcats shot just 27-percent from the floor.

Junior Azzie Knox led the Hillcats with 15 points. Tasha Parker and Yoda Woods chipped in with seven points apiece. RSU committed 21 turnovers and was outrebounded 41-33.

Rogers State (13-18) finished its first season of NAIA basketball with 13 wins and a seventh place finish in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Head Coach Amy Williams' club finished three spots ahead of preseason projections despite not having a single senior on the roster.
