DALLAS, Texas - Rogers State came away with a disappointing doubleheader split Sunday afternoon against Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas.

The Hillcats run-ruled the Tigers 19-8 in the opener, but came up on the short end of a 13-10 decision in the nightcap. RSU had posted four consecutive run-rule victories over Paul Quinn before being tripped up in the final game of the series.
GAME ONE

RSU cranked out four home runs in Sunday's opener en route to a 19-8 blowout win.

Kevin Phillips, Coby Wright, Brandon Denton and Zach Hamby all homered as the Cats cranked out 17 hits against PQC starter Patrick Jackson. Wright led the offensive attack with a 4-for-4 effort, including five RBI and four runs scored. Phillips chipped in with a career-high three hits, four RBI and four runs scored.

Sophmore southpaw Joe Hardzog pitched three innings of relief to earn the win. Hardzog (2-1) allowed seven earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts. Senior Chris Graves yielded just one unearned run and did not surrender a hit over the first three innings.
GAME TWO

Paul Quinn rallied from five runs down to post a 13-10 upset victory in the nightcap.

The Tigers scored four runs in the third inning and followed with seven more in the fourth to take an 11-6 advantage. The Hillcats clawed back to within one with three runs in the top of the sixth, but PQC answered with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to seal the victory.
Richard McDonald delivered the decisive two-run homer off reliever Luis Caraballo to start the bottom of the sixth. RSU starter Jake Taylor took the loss for the Hillcats. Taylor (0-1) allowed 11 earned runs on 13 hits over four innings. McDonald picked up the win for the Tigers with three innings of relief. Joe Manbodh had two hits and two RBI for the Cats in the loss.
Rogers State (23-12) took the season-series from Paul Quinn, 4-1 and closed out its road trip against Texas Wesleyan Monday.
