CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State showed no signs of rust following a 10-day layoff as the Hillcats took care of Our Lady of the Lake University (San Antonio, Texas) with a 3-1 victory Friday afternoon at Soldier Field in Claremore.
In her first game action since being named NAIA National Player of the Week, RSU junior Kimmia Parker showcased once again why she deserved the award. Parker broke a 1-1 tie with a header early in the second half and then helped put the game on ice with a smooth assist to Tiffany Roberts in the 80th minute.
Lauren Hager scored the first goal of the match in the 25th minute with a rebound tally deep in the goalie box. The Saints evened the score early in the second period when Jessica Molina converted a penalty kick.
Parker untied the game just seven minutes later when she drove home the go-ahead goal off of a corner kick by Abby Farrar. Parker then fed Roberts for a breakaway score in the 80th minute to seal it. The Clarendon, Jamaica, product now has seven goals and three assists through two games this season.
Junior goalkeeper Bailey Lynn recorded nine saves in 90 minutes between the posts, allowing the only OLLU goal of the match on a PK. The Hillcats outshot the Saints 24-18 and registered 11 shots on goal in the match.
Rogers State (2-0-0) returns to action Saturday night as the Cats host Oklahoma Wesleyan at Soldier Field. The match is slated for a 6 p.m. start and admission is free.
