No. 25 Hillcats Knockout No. 20 Lady Chaparrals, 76-56

LUBBOCK, Texas - After a slow start the Rogers State women took control three minutes into the game and refused to relinquish the lead as the Hillcats defeated Lubbock Christian for the first time in program history with a knockout, 76-56, victory at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas.

The Hillcats grabbed the lead on a 3-pointer by Jenny Hardin, sparking a 9-0 run. The Lady Chaparrals were able to pull within one of RSU twice in the first half, but couldn?t regain the lead. Back-to-back buckets by Logan Froese off the bench helped the Cats overcome one such burst by LCU midway through the first half. Froese, a freshman post from Claremore, Okla., tallied eight points in the first half and helped the Hillcats head to the locker room with a 33-27 advantage.

In the second half the No. 25 Hillcats hit the Lady Chaps with a fury of points over the final seven minutes and finished the contest on a 21-6 run. The streak was led by the scoring of Hardin, who registered 10 of her game high-21 points during the seven-minute point spree. Froese was the only player to register a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Hillcats.

The Lady Chaps were led in scoring by starter Brittany Hampton with 13 points. Reserve Whitney Wehmeyer was the only other Chaparral to register double digits with 11 points.

RSU shot 64-percent from 3-point range while knocking down 81-percent from the charity stripe. Conversely, LCU made only 28-percent of its shots from behind the arc and hit only 58-percent of its free throws.

Rogers State (16-4, 8-4) moved into a tie for third place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with the victory. The Hillcats will travel to Plainview, Texas, to face Wayland Baptist on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off set for 1 p.m. and the game carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
