PLAINVIEW, Texas - The Rogers State men's soccer team dominated Wayland Baptist University on Friday afternoon, winning 6-1 at Pioneer Field.
Justin Friesen gave RSU a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute, drilling to the ball in the top corner of the net past WBU goalkeeper David Metcalfe.
T.J. Martin earned his fifth goal of the year in the 33rd minute heading the ball into the net off of a corner kick.
Bryan Jones extended the Hillcats lead to 3-0 just before halftime, finding the back of the net off a corner kick by Sergio Guerra in the 44th minute.
Jones struck again after intermission, finishing a cross from Martin in the 62nd minute, giving the Hillcats a commanding 4-0 lead.
Carlos Zuta added his second goal of the season in the 73rd minute off a pass from Chase Walker.
Brett Jones rounded out the scoring for the Hillcats 77th minute. It was his first goal of the season.
The Pioneers avoided the shutout with a goal by Aiden Mooney in the 79th minute.
Sean Surridge and Nikola Samac split time in goal for RSU. Surridge played 76 minutes, making four saves. Samac played the final 14 minutes making three saves while allowing one goal.
The Hillcats (8-1-1, 2-0 SAC) end their road on Tues., Oct. 5 at Oklahoma City University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
